Tangent Ampster BT II HiFi Amplifier

Great sound needs a great amplifier

The second generation of Tangent’s award-winning Ampster BT Amplifier is a small and conveniently sized amp with a wealth of features for various home and commercial applications. By combining your Tangent Ampster BT ll amplifier with good quality speakers, such as the Tangent Spectrum X4 or X5s, the result is stunning optimum audio reproduction for the system’s size and price.

Connect wirelessly or wired

You can stream your music from your smartphone, tablet or computer directly to the Ampster BT II amplifier wirelessly via Bluetooth, or by connecting your device using an AUX cable. Digital and analogue line inputs, a sub-output and a USB charging port are also provided.

Wake up on Bluetooth and multi-room compatible

With the second generation BT II you no longer have to worry about turning off your amplifier. It goes on standby when the music stops whilst playing music via Bluetooth and wakes automatically when you resume playback.  In addition, the BT II can be woken from standby from the AUX minijack input which allows you to connect most multiroom or network systems to it. For example, add a Chromecast Audio, AirPort Express, or other Wi-Fi devices to the AUX input - then the Tangent Ampster BT II will turn on as soon as you start playing through your network.

A mini amplifier with a big sound

The new Tangent Ampster BT ll fits effortlessly into Tangent's new mini system. By combining the Tangent Tuner ll & CD ll, you can enjoy a complete, compact sized HI-FI system with premium audio quality and performance. Each Ampster BT ll, Tuner ll and CD ll is less than the width of an A4 sheet of paper and is only 7cm high, making the system only 21cm high when stacked! So the small size of each component takes up less space in the living room, kitchen - or wherever you enjoy your music.

A remote control for all

The remote control for the Tangent Ampster BT ll also operates the Tuner ll and CD ll, so when all three components are stacked together or placed separately, each remote control can be used to operate all components.  Or you can choose to use only one remote control and put the two other remotes away!  Another useful feature of this second generation Ampster BT is an IR infrared input.  This enables you to place the Tangent Ampster BT II wherever it’s not possible to operate with its remote control.  Just place the supplied IR eye somewhere where the remote control can reach it, then connect the cable to the External IR input on the rear panel.

Mission QX-1 Bookshelf Speakers

Sound

The Mission QX-1 bookshelf speakers boast bass drivers that feature Mission’s DiaDrive system, a seam-free curvilinear cone that has been formulated from a mixture of soft pup and acrylic fibre. This DiaDrive system has been specially designed in order to provide these stunning speakers with natural midrange clarity and lucidity. Backing this curvilinear front cone is a stiff, conical support that creates an increased area of contact with the voice coil in order to produce an outstanding transient impact. Finally, the drive unit surround and the fixing screws have all been cleverly concealed behind a unique comb-tooth trim – a design that gives the front face of the speaker its signature “high-tech” look.

Design and Drivers

The Mission QX-1 Bookshelf Speakers has been designed to marry advanced engineering with stylish and attractive aesthetics, allowing them to seamlessly integrate within any pre-existing system and match almost every type of home décor. The front panel of these speakers both hints at the advanced technology held within and present an attractive face to the listener.

The Mission QX-1 utilises Mission’s Inverted Driver Geometry (IDG) driver format which positions the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, equalising the length of the signal path and thus allowing the sound waves to coincide at head height for the listener. This driver design principle will improve time alignment and offer an overall better response when listening to music or watching movies.

The new ‘ring dome’ treble unit within the QX-1 speakers works to offer high levels of musical detail whilst keeping the distortion levels as low as possible, with the usual dome cavitation effects held at bay.  The ‘ring dome’ then utilises what is known as the dual ring radiator – a woven, textile material that is formed in a double ring arrangement. This combination of textile dome and multi ring surround will help to achieve the optimum stiffness across the maximum radiating area. To top this all off, the Mission QX-1 then incorporates a twin rear cavity non-reflecting design to vent back pressure from the diaphragm into a twin rear cavity, thus reducing any resonance and maintaining a wide operating bandwidth.

When it comes to aesthetics, the QX-1 speakers work hard to ensure they remain stylish whilst able to fit within any system, but the design aspects of the speakers have more than one function. Aluminium top and bottom plates enhance the quality of sound whilst providing a more modern feel; a ribbon-like design across the slot ports ensure the speakers look high-tech whilst enhancing the airflow and avoiding any chuffing from within the bass reflex ports, resulting in a low-frequency performance that achieves lower levels of distortion; and the arc shaped cabinet corners employ a semi-circular shape to the corners of the speaker in order to smooth diffraction from the drive units, thus allowing them to yield better power distribution into the listening area.
