Who is Martin Buttrich?

Martin is an expert in sound technology; when people say “Martin Buttrich’s music sounds amazing”, they’re not just talking about the catchiness of his compositions or the way he manipulates beats into unique tapestries. His skills with a sonic scalpel – that esoteric ability to navigate the spectrum of audible (and inaudible) frequencies – have given him cachet among sound engineers. An incredible work ethic combined with a flexible, curious, and humorous approach have made him one of the go-to names within the dance music community for co-writing, production and collaborative projects.

Why Martin wanted to be part of this speaker model:

“When I first plugged into these Ruark Audio MR1s I was astonished at what I heard! A friend had suggested I try them out and I was completely blown away that this small speaker sounded so clear and precise. They are built with a quality level that demands they belong in a professional studio and have become something I rely on as an extra pair of reference speakers for the music I create. Their size and weight is perfect for when you’re on the road and want to continue to be productive, with a familiar reference. With all my traveling it allows me to continue my studio work from a hotel, house, apartment and beyond.”

What is the Ruark MR1?

As speakers for computer systems they’re ideal, but they are also equally at home as speakers to dramatically improve the sound of flat panel TVs and as extension speakers for the Ruark R2i/R4i models and other systems. Even alone they are capable of providing the basis of a complete music system (just connect a Turntable or CD player) and with Bluetooth and apt-X built-in, audio can be streamed and played wirelessly through MR1s with CD like sound.

In keeping with Ruark's philosophy, MR1 features a control system which is simple and easy to use. A short press of the volume control turns MR1 on and off and long press changes the audio input from line-in to Bluetooth or vice-versa. A multi coloured LED indicates the selected input and also indicates status, blinking rapidly when maximum volume has been reached and blinking intermittently when MR1 is in standby mode. On the rear panel of the control unit are outputs for the left hand speaker and a subwoofer, so an active subwoofer can be connected if required. A switchable line-in input with attenuation switch allows numerous audio devices (including a Turntable or TV) to be connected and enjoyed with MR1s high fidelity sound.

The hand crafted cabinets with cool metal fittings and fine mesh grilles are highly tactile and finished in a choice of Rich Walnut, or our new Soft White and Soft Black lacquer finishes, their style and neat proportions will compliment all applications and locations. MR1 features aptX® audio coding technology that partners with Bluetooth® so compatible devices can stream to MR1 with audio quality virtually indistinguishable from a wired connection. Many computers and handheld devices now come as standard with aptX® , but with or without, sound quality over Bluetooth with MR1 is impressive.

And a little bit from Ruark

2016 marks a momentous year for family-owned audio firm Ruark, as it celebrates three decades of passion for high fidelity and beautiful design. In 1986 it started out manufacturing world-class high-end loudspeakers for hi-fi enthusiasts; today it applies those same high quality principles to design and engineer a new generation of perfectly formed, luxury sound systems. It is these brand credentials – combined with Ruark’s own love of music – that makes the synergy between the firm and Martin so credible.
